Riding out of the uniform store and onto the parade ground is the Almansa Dragoon regiment.
Resplendent in their yellow uniform coats, this regiment is the second dragoon regiment in this Spanish army.
I am not certain if the dragoons will be the last of the cavalry for this force, or whether they will be joined by a regiment of line cavalry at some point.
Awaiting their final uniform details are a battalion of light infantry that should be on parade by the end of the week.
The yellow coated Spanish are sweet! You are cranking these out so fast, I can barely keep up with my reading.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan. Yellow is such an awful colour to work with, but when you see the unit complete they do look spectacular. I must admit I am having trouble keeping up myself...there is a whole unit finished but not based...maybe tomorrow.
DeleteYes you are certainly cracking on with these Spaniards Mark - these dragoons are very nice indeed!
ReplyDeleteYes I am making good headway...mind you I have had so little to paint of late that there was some pent up enthusiasim.
DeleteCongrats Mark, beautiful yellow and very nice job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phi. They will certainly stand out on the table...hopefully not as an artillery target.
DeleteLove that yellow!
ReplyDeleteYes it was one of the things that attracted me to the Spanish. I did see somewhere an illustration of a unit in lime green coats, but seems a bit much to me.
DeleteThese are lovely Mark...
ReplyDeleteThe mix of yellow coats with the sky blue facings make a very attractive combination...
Lime green coats.... go on you know you want to... ;-)
All the best. Aly.
Trust me I don't want to...what would the unit be called the Kermit Dragoons or the Creme de Menthe Cuirassiers...it brings back dreadful memories of a cocktail themed party in the mid '80s when the "cocktail du jour" was a Grasshopper...I still shudder at the though of getting up the next morning with a wicked hangover and seeing six or so half consumed glasses of that green gunge in the kitchen.
DeleteLovely looking Spanish dragoons! The yellow coats are fab! It's such a pain to get right but they look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain. I am pleased with this unit.
DeleteGreat job, and the yellow really came out well. I remember those grasshoppers. I think we used to drink them by the pint, which was the obvious mistake.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence. I seem to remember that you were at that particular party where you and your mate demonstrated your party trick with marshmellows.
DeleteOh dear, that sounds a little unpleasant. Great times, and I’d happily relive them over again. I think.
DeleteGood days indeed.
DeleteVery nicely painted.
ReplyDeleteI would have done a couple of things differently.
The standard bearer’s shoulder belt would have been crimson edged in silver.
The trumpeter’s coat would have been red with light blue facings and yellow turnbacks, his saddlecloth red edged white and his cloak should be red
Ah that is detail I didn't have access to so I used images from other gamer's blogs...one of those times that the wisdom of crowds didn't work I guess. It might be a bit too hard to go back and change now!
