Wearing round hats this unit is intended for the 1810-1811 period.
I was somewhat concerned about a unit all in brown, but the red facings, white cross belts and the mix of greatcoats on some of the figures makes them interesting.
There will be one more battalion in this regiment, but next off the table is a regiment of dragoons.
Very nice too Mark - you needn't worry about brown uniforms - look at Austrian artillery or Portuguese Cacadores - they look pretty good in brown, as do these Senors!
ReplyDeleteI am quite pleased with the outcome really and the brown is a breeze to work with compared with the yellow coats of the dragoons I am working on now!
DeleteLovely unit and flags Mark, well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil. I can't take the credit for the flags - they are by Adolfo Ramos
DeleteLovely Mark... and not dull at all.
ReplyDeleteI’ve always liked the brown-red combination.
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly. I might look at a brown and light blue combination.
DeleteNice unit and yes the brown and red is very pleasing! The crossbelts really help to break them up too!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain. I am looking at other units now with browns or earthy greens.
DeleteI like the brown uniform with red facing and white webbing! Looks fab to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan, and they have grown on me...and they are quite quick to paint.
DeleteLovely work. I had the same misgivings about the Spanish militia I did, but they worked out much better than I thought and were very quick to paint. Much better than having to go over a yellow coat four times, as you say.
ReplyDeleteYes the brown has grown on me. I have figures for a second battalion in this uniform and then another two battalion regiment that will be in dark blue. I also plan to do a couple of battalions from the Catalonian legion...but after paying two significant unexpected bills in the last four days they may have to wait a while!
