Third Battalion, Guadalajara Regiment...and a Gun

This week has seen two new items added to the Spanish Napoleonic project.

First is the third battalion, Guadalajara Regiment, again in mixed dress.

Combined with the other two battalions the regiment had a satisfying muddled look.

Second is a gun set with the gunners loading the gun.

As I wait for 2 April to see what effect the demise of Google+ is going to have on this blog, I am working on two battalions for the 1809-1811 collection.

  3. The miwed dress of your new batallion adds a lot to the realism...Outstanding work on it...and great job on the gun as well!👍👍

  4. I like the motley, campaign look of your Guadalajara battalion. Perfect presentation for the Spanish. Great looking gun too!

    1. Thank you Jonathan. The problem with the motley look is trying not to repeat colour combinations!

Every time I look at the regimental name I think of the line from that Steely Dan song - My Old School - that had the line:

“Well, I hear the whistle but I can't go, I'm gonna,
Take her down to Mexico, she said
      oh no, Guadalajara won't do”

...although it is a different Guadalajara of course.

  5. More lovely work with those mixed uniforms, and the artillery piece and crew look terrific. I’ll be interested to see if Google+ Ending does have any effect myself, although I’m still not sure what it is.

    1. Thank you Iain. The gun sets are particularly nice...another one, firing the gun, will appear on the painting desk tomorrow. The next motley bunch are due to be started towards the end of the week.
