Nizam-i-cedid Anatolian nefer infantry

This post shows the second unit of Nizam-i-cedid Anatolian nefer infantry in this army, this time in a simple red uniform. I have given one of the standard bearers one of the Mameluke horsehair standards for a bit of variety.

Back on the painting table are more Mamelukes.

  2. Very nice indeed Mark…
I imagine these chaps were quite easy to paint… but they make for a very striking unit.

    All the best. Aly

    1. You are right...dead simple to do... about six colours and a couple of washes...nice to worked on a uniformed unit after the Mamelukes and their coats of many colours.

  5. Very nice and a good contrast to the multi-coloured units of late, but still striking nonetheless:)!

    1. Thanks Steve, it was quite a relief to paint such a simple uniform, to be honest.

    1. Thanks Stew. You will soon catch up with me I am sure...I only have 100 or so figures left in the lead pile and no plans to buy any more right now, so by 19 February I will be done.

    5. Yes freight would be a killer...probably more than the cost of painting.

  7. You are not going to lose these on the wargaming table. Very nice Mark. It must be a relief to get back to a unit with a uniform rather than all the effort required to make an irregular unit look irregular.

    1. Yes it was nice to get to a uniformed unit. I have another unit of colourful Mamelukes waiting to be based...they were a struggle to complete. I think the final batch will be a more subdued hue.
