Here is the seventh Mameluke unit in my Ottoman army, the third in this current batch.
I have tried my best to make them as gaudy as possible, using the brighter shades of Contrast colours. If I tried any harder they would have looked like Richard Simmons.
There are still two more units in the lead pile and they will be interspersed between a number of infantry units.
Another fine unit Mark. These are going to look very impressive when amassed together on the table.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly will look good encases...just started unit number 8.
Deletebeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks...they do look impressive don't they?
DeleteThese colorful fellas are superb, Mark!
ReplyDeleteSure are, but I am glad there are only 18 figures to go...sitting the colour mix is giving me a headache.
DeleteSuperb deviation from the ‘run of the mill’ type unit, there is a sense of the individual within the unit as the eye is ‘forced’ to read each figure.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm. It's quite exhausting working on them because there are so many items on each figure that need different colours: the pants, shirt, jacket, sash, shabraque, leather work, turban, fez...the list goes on. They take me almost double the time to finish.
DeleteThey are great Mark, and I would have though a bit of colour variety would be welcome after all those FPW Krauts and Frogs!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard work though Keith, trying to make them as unique as possible.
Deletevery colorful and gaudy, but just the right amount. wearing gaudy clothes is kinda like wearing sexy underwear; it only works if it's not too much or too little. 😜😁
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I will never look at, or wear, sexy underwear in the same way again..
DeleteOh those do look lovely! For me the use of the colours in the flag on the uniforms, somehow ties them together as a unit, despite of course other colours being used too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve. I have just finished unit number eight, with a similar mix if bright colours...I am thinking that unit nine should be more muted.
