That said, with my Garde Imperiale completed, it is well over due time for a review.
First is the three generals that will command the Garde.
Then there is the infantry, all six battalions.
The artillery, horse and line.
The cavalry
On the painting table, or rather on the basing table, are a number of French line infantry battalions that should grace these pages in the next few days.
Ranked up like this is imposing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe. The infantry in those greatcoats certainly look menacing.
DeleteSplendid work, Mark! I don’t think anyone would dare question your painting ethic. The only time your productivity drops is when the cupboard is empty of figures.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan. The cupboard was bare for a few months.and will again. The plan hereinafter is to just do the occasional unit.
DeleteThey look great Mark. They should pack quite a punch. I see you have some Napoleonic civilians on order. Are they the recent Perry releases? I bought a few myself a couple of months ago. The weather here reached 38 degrees for the last day of winter. A far cry from when you were over a few weeks ago.
ReplyDelete38 degrees...glorious. We too have had some warmer weather (nowhere near as good as yours but nice nonetheless) even though Saturday was awful with heavy rain and thunder!
DeleteYes the civilians are the Perrys, but regrettably when I place the order four of the eight socks were out if stock. The balance will need to come later.
A fine parade there Mark! Now the Summer holidays are over and SWMBO returns to school, my life will get back to a more even keel and hopefully plenty of painting too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve...retirement is getting closer.
DeleteWhat a splendid collection, Mark. The real world catches up with all of us from time to time...
ReplyDeleteThanks Giles, life seems to be running significantly faster than me at the moment!
DeleteThat is an impressive work!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteA grand and Imperious review Mark…
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing them in action… Let’s hope they don’t embarrass themselves…
All the best. Aly
I may have to prevent any potential embarrassment by doing what Napoleon did at Borodino...not commit them...
DeleteFantastic figures Mark and I love the posing of them. For some reason I don't have any foot French Imperial Guard grenadiers (excepting a couple of figures) . I suppose I have been negligent as I have plenty of guard cavalry. I haven't seen any 28mm plastic guard grenadiers not in greatcoats and I prefer the blue and white of the standard to all blue with greatcoats worn. I shall, after seeing your units looking so good, re-evaluate when I have finished my existing Bavarians. The hot weather over the last week here in Brisbane created havoc with my fine detail painting as the paint had dried on the brush before it reached the figure. Using a wet pallette was of some help but as the amount of paint on the brush was minimal for fine detail it was taxing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris. I was doubtful about the greatcoated figures st first - I too like the blue coat and white breeches - but they do look the part. I have struck the same issue with rapidly drying paint, especially any acrylic white.
DeleteGreat stuff Mark - they look suitably imperial, or should that be imperious?!
ReplyDeleteJust need to find a reason to use them.
Deletethose look really good. nice job. 😁
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew...do the Quar have any guard units?
