Fresh off the painting table is the first of the Austrian Napoleonic artillery.
This set is a 6lb field gun and limber.
As with most Perry artillery sets this is full of animation and again I like that brown coat.
The limber set is equally animated with the lead driver turning in the saddle and following on from my last post, what is the conversation? My take is:
Franz: “I’ve just finished reading Immanuel Kant’s Nebular hypothesis. He thinks that the Solar System was formed by a big gas cloud called a Nebula.”
Hubert: “Kant…his brother is a brewer isn’t he?”
Franz: “Yes.”
Hubert: “I hope there is beer in camp to night.”
Franz: “Me too.”
Next it is back to the line infantry.
Very nice work Mark, painting artillery can be very tricky and this is great.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris. Artillery is actually my favourite rm to work on and the Perrys make it enjoyable by having those really animated crews.
DeleteThey look great Mark...I also like the Austrian artillery in the brown coats and slightly anachronistic bicornes!
ReplyDeleteThose bicornes must have been uncomfortable to wear, but oddly fitting for the Austrians.
DeleteSuper presentation. I, too, am particularly fond of the tobacco brown jackets.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan. The next limber will be particularly impressive.
DeleteThe brown coat is a spiffy uniform, but the train is my favorite. Love the dialog.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe, I agree about the train.
DeleteVery nice, I have just prepped my first 6 pdr, so I will use your shots as my painting guide.
ReplyDeleteThanks Norm. I gave the wurst gun and limber set under assembly now. It is really impressive and should be finished after Easter.
DeleteFine work Mark and I do like artillery units having brown coats with appropriate facings. I've used this for my ImagiNations units and it works a treat. BTW the conversation between th drivers made me chuckle!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve. I must admit I am glad the artillery had brown coats as the vast amount of white infantry is becoming a bit of a drag!
DeleteThey look great Mark. The thing about most Perry figures is that they are so well-animated that you can easily imagine them having a conversation like that. Mine normally run along the lines of "Did you manage to get much painting in yesterday?", "Yes, once I had cut back the hedges, mowed the lawn and pressure-hosed the driveway".
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence. I’m pleased to see that you are answerable to the Domestic Controller too.
DeleteLovely work Mark…
ReplyDeleteIt’s a very attractive uniform indeed…
Of course the conversation could be as simple as..” it wasn’t me it was the horse…he’s had some bad oats” 😳
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly. And that lead driver has the look on his face to be saying exactly as you say.
DeleteLol poor Franz. It can be hard to be the lone intellectual. 😀
ReplyDeleteYou know I feel that way every day at work, Stew, although it is usually me thinking (occasionally thinking out loud) “what a stupid idea”.
