Before we set off on our road trip in the South Island I had partially completed three items for the Paraguayan project.
The first was the fifth battalion of Paraguayan infantry. There is one more of these to go in the current batch of Paraguayan War figures.
Next were two more rustic buildings. Once again the forms were made of cardboard and a variety of repurposed materials from the garden were used on the walls. The first one has a bit of a secluded entrance way in front a small pond or marsh.
Your infantry in red and white look great. These will be very colorful armies on the field. Outstanding work on the buildings too. Your weathering looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan. The armies certainly have some variety...I am doing and Argentine unit at the moment with a “lead grey” goat and sky blue trousers which makes a very different looking bunch.
DeleteTotally agree with Jonathan, figures look great, I especially like the command group. You've done a great job with the building they really look the part. Cheers Greg
ReplyDeleteThanks Greg. The buildings came up a treat.
DeleteHi Mark....where does the goat come into it - is it a Patagonian unit?? (apparently there was a big Welsh community in Southern Argentina - although probably later in the 19th century...!)The buildings, as always, are sublime. I am closing in on the finishing line with my Reivers terrain too...I lack your single minded focus on completing one task before starting another.. :(
ReplyDeleteTrust the Welsh to go to the most inhospitable part of Argentina...a bit like the Scots going to Dunedin! I did have a look in the Terry Hooker book on the subject and he doesn't list any Patagonian units. My wife would seriously disagree with you about projects...there are elements of part completed projects in a number of locations around the house!
DeleteSmashing looking buildings there ! , give it a sense of place .
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony.
DeleteAnother lovely looking unit, with the variety of 'trousers' really adding to the look. Once again, great work on those buildings.
ReplyDeleteFor the final unit in this batch I will probably give a little more variety in the trousers...you know taken from the enemy dead
DeleteNice work on the figures, and the buildings look great. I particularly like the one with the Paraguayan 'pergola',
ReplyDeleteYes I got the pergola idea from a line drawing. It looked as though it was communal which is why I made it detached.
DeleteWonderful stuff Mark, some great additions really adding character to the period and table.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stuart
Thanks Stu.
DeleteI look forward to seeing a parade Mark....
ReplyDeleteThe buildings look great... they also look like a lot of fun to make...
All the best. Aly
That parade is getting close...the peasants have been sent out to to clear a parade ground in the jungle while the last few infantry are moving through the uniform store.
DeleteLovely looking infantry unit and splendid buildings!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain.
