Completed this week are two battalions, one Paraguayan and one Argentine.
First are the Paraguayans.
Second are the Argentines again in tropical kit, but this time instead of the khaki uniforms that were “Algerian Style” surplus from the French army, these are kitted out in locally manufactured white uniforms.
I love this project, Mark! More excellent units marching off your painting desk.
ReplyDeleteI am liking it too...no idea how I am going to game it yet, but the armies are building.
DeleteAnother couple of nice looking S American units Mark - they certainly have a lot of variety!
ReplyDeleteAnd more variety coming yet in the Brazilians
DeleteTwo great units again Mark but I must say I love the Paraguayans due to their mix of kit!
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve. I am looking forward to the next release of Paraguayans that are in advancing poses.
DeleteMore loveliness Mark...
ReplyDeleteWhen can we have a parade?
All the best. Alt
Thanks Aly. A parade is planned, but due to other commitments probably will be a couple if weeks away...the social calendar is filling up as the threat of a lockdown end is in sight.
DeleteLovely looking South American battalions, I also prefer the Paraguayans as they seem a bit more varied I guess!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Yes they have done the Paraguayans and Brazilians in the firing line, but not the Argentinians. In many ways I prefer the march attack figures as they are less fragile.
DeleteSome more splendid additions, and the Paraguayans really are a colourful lot. I especially like the blanket wrapped around the figure on the command stand.
ReplyDeleteThey are colourful, but strange to say they are slightly harder to paint because the uniform is so simple. The blanket is called a Chirpa and was in use amongst the Argentine cavalry too...some of which will be appearing on this blog late next month.
DeleteGreat work on these guys! I did armies for this war years back in 10mm but these put mine to shame. Whatever rules you use, make sure it somehow incorporates the absolute fanaticism the Paraguayans fought with throughout even down toward the end when they were employing mere boys. I wonder if the Perrys will eventually make figures for that?
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to an eventual game, it's gonna look great.
They are great figures to work with. I am working on the rules now and yes the Paraguayans will be given some advantage for their tenacity and fanaticism to compensate for their lesser numbers.
DeleteGreat job Mark, loving the mix of traditional address for the Paraguayans.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Stu
