More Staff and a few Mamelukes

I have now completed the second set of Napoleon's staff - the emperor and others dismounted.

This include the Emperor, Marshal Ney (leaning on the table) Marshal Soult, Drouot (ADC to the Emperor), Colonel Gourgaud (Napoleon's faithful ordinance officer) and a Hussar officer acting as ADC.

Also completed are three Mamelukes that will be assigned the role of officers in my Ottoman army that will take the field on the 28th.

  1. Excellent work, Mark. I think my favorite of this command tranche is the saluting hussar. That’s a great figure.

    1. I agree he is great, but for me it's the Ney figure, leaning on the table, who makes the set..

    1. I really wanted to use the Mameluke command figures for this set, but it was out of stock and I needed three commanders for Sunday!

  4. A beautifully done command set Mark, and that Marshal Ney figure is quite special. Are the Mamelukes Perry Miniatures? I have noticed the out of stock notice appearing on a few items since their caster passed away, so they must be producing in batches.

    1. I remember my first day in Metz a few years ago, we were walking down to look at the cathedral and there was this statute of Ney...all dramatic in a great coat and carrying a musket...I guess celebrating him as the hero of the retreat. This is only the second time I have struck the out of stock thing from the Perrys...not too bad for twenty odd years of purchasing I suppose.

  5. I agree the Ney figure is the most dynamic.

    1. Whenever I think of Ney I picture the guy who played him in the Waterloo film...probably doesn't loom at all like him, but he is the image I have.

  6. As always your figs are excellent. Not sure how you use a dismounted staff game wise but they sure do look the role!

  8. Nice command figures. I imagine Ney saying “I think the map is upside down.” 😀

  9. Indeed! And similarly I can see a very unamused Napoleon staring at him and saying "get out!" 🤣
