Arriving just before Christmas this unit had to wait until all the festivities were over and the painting table was properly re-established.
This is the third battalion of the Boys from Brazil this time in broad brimmed hat and in khaki fatigues, which makes it the third battalion and a third uniform variant.
I have another broad brimmed hat battalion waiting in their boxes, which will probably be done in more of a regulation uniform – maybe with a few trouser variants.
Still more Brazilian troops are waiting to be done, but they need some reinforcements to bring the battalions up to their full establishment and that may be delayed by the increased COVID-19 restrictions now imposed in the UK.
Excellent work, Mark! You know, painted in white linen tunic and trousers, I think I could use these figures as Cuban rebels in the SAW.
ReplyDeleteYou are probably right Jonathan...you would have to live with them carrying rifled muskets.
DeleteRifled musket is what many of the rebels carried so this would b no issue.
DeleteWell there you go...all sorted!
DeleteThose look great. I have these in my 10mm collection, painted in that khaki. They are cacadores, in theory light infantry but deployed and fought just the same as the line from what I've read.
ReplyDeleteI love your collection and am looking forward to when you can do a battle, it should look amazing.
The first game is going to be a while away yet. They haven’t made all the artillery and mounted officers yet and we can’t go ibto battle withoutvthem!
DeleteAnother nice unit Mark, with the dull khaki having a nice contrast of the red stripes and blue blanket rolls:)
ReplyDeleteYes I liked that contrast too. The next unit will be in blue coats, msby eith some white anna tan trousers.
DeleteNice work on the latest South American units Mark. Nick and I had a "Under Lilly Banners" game today and I quite liked the rules - see my blog for an AAR
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith. I screwed up my last order a bit and ordered too many figures in the fatigue caps. I balance it out with the next order, but with the current situation in the UK who knows when that will be able to be shipped.
DeleteNice choice of colors, just enough to bring the unit to life. I smiled when you mentioned an inconvenient mix on your order, I do that to myself all the time.
ReplyDeleteYes I changed my mind at the last minute and changed out some of the figures, forgetting that I wanted a mix of headgear in the battalions.
DeleteNice work, and the broad-brimmed hats look very South American. I ordered some Perry ECW Scots on 16th December, and the first box arrived on New Year's Eve last week which I thought was very good going considering the problems in the UK and the public holidays in between.
ReplyDeleteThe first of my last two parcels arrived in two weeks, but the second took a month. I wonder what the next order will take.
DeleteVery nice Mark...
ReplyDeleteYou are certainly going to have a good variety of uniforms on the table when you eventually have a game.
All the best. Aly
I felt the need to get some variety, especially since the regulation uniform is blue kepi, blue jacket, blue trousers and blue greatcoat! But I promise there will be more regular uniforms in future batches.
DeleteNice looking troops with a definite campaign feel!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Indeed they do. Thanks Iain.
DeleteNice work, qood to see this period being looked into further. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark. I have had an interest in this conflict since the 80s but never found the range of figures that I liked the look of...until now.
DeleteThese are brilliant. Such a lot of character.
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thanks James. I am doing a unit of Paraguayans at the moment, they new poses, and they are also fill of character and variety.
DeleteMore beautifully painted, arranged and based figures Mark.
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thank you James.
