One hundred and fifty-six years ago today 190,000 German soldiers, supported by 730 guns, fought a French army of 112,000 and 520 guns across an eleven kilometre front in the Battle of Gravelotte - St Privat. By the end of the day 6,400 were dead, 21,000 were wounded and a further 5,000 were missing.

So it is fitting that this post should be a Franco-Prussian War one, representing buildings of the style found on or near that battlefield. Of course the way Blogger is acting at the moment this post probably won't appear on blog rolls until after the anniversary
The first model is the last of the street byre houses, i.e. with only two textured faces.

| Back |
The last two are designed as end pieces so are textured in three sides rather than two. One is the final byre house in the series, this one with a hipped roof.

The other is a residence, with a small yard...just big enough to accomodate one of my infantry stands.

Finally, a couple of shots showing the buildings in street row.
Only two buildings to go in this series now and they are half completed as I type this.
Those buildings are so good! No way could I do that. Looking forward to some Franco-Prussian action.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joseph. It's nice to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
DeleteI love your style! You are a fine builder.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan. The post just made it to the blogrolls on 18 August...I hope to have the whole group finished this weekend. Then it is on to some Alsace houses, but not as many this time.
DeleteLovely work on them Mark, super additions and the whole project is going to look awesome on the table.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie. Almost there...have to admit I am running out of ideas for different buildings.
DeleteHi Mark,
ReplyDeleteWhat a grand achievement! The modular street layout looks spot-on for the Franco-Prussian War. You’ve done a magnificent job powering through the series—enjoy getting those last two wrapped up over the weekend!
All the best, Andy
Thank you Andy.
DeleteSome excellent looking buildings, nice work indeed!
ReplyDeleteThank you Peter
DeleteSomehow these builds are very evocative and will surely enhance any game or photo shoot. Which if any of the houses you've made would you choose to live in or holiday in?
ReplyDeleteStephen
Thanks Stephen. I think as long as they there is a warm fire for winter, room for a large wargames room and space for a wine cellar, I could live in any of them
DeleteSplendid additions to your village , lovely finish!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain. It is coming together nicely.
