Sunnier Times

After five wet and windy days on the Sunshine Coast we came down to Brisbane for three nights from Thursday. The weather improved as we headed south and by the time we got to our apartment on the South Bank it was quite fine and humid with a pleasant temperature of around 25C.

We quickly found a place for lunch and then took a spin on the Wheel of Brisbane, from which these pictures were taken.

We then walked along the river bank for a while.

Then it was back to our apartment for an early dinner...it had been along day.

Friday was a fine day with a peak temperature of 28C. We spent most of it in the city centre for a bit of shopping. Lunch and afternoon drinks were taken in the West End near the apartment. Saturday was also a lovely fine and sunny day and more time was spent shopping, dining and taking in a show at the Performing Arts Centre.

Now, as mid-day on Sunday approaches (on a gorgeous cloudless day), we are in the airline lounge ready to set off for home.

  1. Glad you finally got some decent weather on the "Sunshine" Coast, Mark! Unfortunately, you may be heading back into more of the same as your first few days over there, as we have had wind and rain in Auckland for the last couple of days!

    1. Yep...pretty standard stuff really - three to four days after the bad stuff leaves the east coast of Australia it is with us!

  3. I hope you had a nice trip overall Mark, climate change has made the climate here in Brisbane a lot less predictable than it once was. That said, SE Queensland really is lovely when the weather is kind to us.

    1. Yes we did enjoy our time. In truth wet have been to Queensland six times in the last 20 years (3 in the north and 3 in the SE) and this is the only time we have encountered bad weather of more than a day. We suffer the same issues with climate change.

  5. Glad you got to enjoy some of the better weather Mark. Cold and raining as Keith said in Auckland, and I have come back with a slightly sore throat thanks to a day at the races at Ruakaka. Hopefully you'll be taking the sun back with you.

    1. Friday and Saturday were gorgeous days - cloudless skies and 28C. Awful here today: heavy showers and very strong southerlies. Lots of snow in the south, so the skiers will be happy!
