This is the last of the three mitrailleuse batteries I have done for the corps. It represents Captain Laurent's 9/15e battery, attached to Third Division. They make a nice break from paining red pants...although in reality I have used far more blue than red in this project.
I really like this set, but for a bit of variety I have swapped one of the crew figures with one from one of the field artillery sets.
Nice work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe. The other two batteries for this group are now completed and should appear here tomorrow.
DeleteLovely stuff Mark. I rebased 6 Spanish and 6 Portuguese pieces on the weekend as I didn't like the cramped look of the 60mm x 40mm base I had originally used. There is a lot to be said for providing them with a bit of space.
ReplyDeleteA bread number of my guns are still on the 60 x 40 bases. These were all well and good in the old days with relatively static gun crew figures, but these days with the more dynamic poses they are far too cramped and figures are at risk of damage as a result. I have now expanded my widths to 50mm an dept to between 90mm and 120mm as needed. I looked at a 69mm frontage, but it looked a bit too spacious.
DeleteAnother lovely piece of ordinance Mark…
ReplyDeleteAll the best. Aly
Thanks Aly it is indeed a nice piece.
DeleteYour usual nice work on these Mark - allez les bleus!
ReplyDeleteI've now finished the two field batteries that go along with this. Maybe they will be photographed tonight.
