If I was a sci-fi geek it would probably make some smart comment about May the Fourth, but I am not - in fact I think I have only ever watched one Star Wars film all the way through - so I won't.
Finished over the weekend and based up yesterday is the Second Battalion, Regiment Freiherr von Zach, Number 15.
This is the penultimate battalion in this collection. The third battalion, and the last infantry unit of this collection is on the painting table now. All that remains after that unit is completed is a hussar regiment.
They look superb
ReplyDeleteThank you Neil.
DeleteTerrific work, Mark! No jokes about May the Fourth from me. Here it is still May the Third. Doesn’t have quite the same ring.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan and May the Fourth be with you now then!
DeleteGreat work again Mark and exciting to see the Austrian collection nearing completion. It will also be interesting to see how your new firing rules affect the efficacy of the Austrians in a game....they may no longer be quite as vulnerable to musketry as they were under the previous system?
ReplyDeleteYes the rule tweaks will make some difference. Their dense formations will still make them vulnerable to fire but the reduced volume should help them.
DeleteThey look great Mark, well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Chris.
DeleteIn case the last comment didn't publish... they look great Mark, well done.
ReplyDeleteIt did, as you can see!
DeleteAnother fine unit Mark and the white uniform does look good, which I think is always a tricky thing to pull off. As for Star Wars, the first film was good due to the, at the time, incredible special effects. But the rest, probably the less said the better...
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve...I've never been a sci-fi fan...Star Trek is probably my limit.
DeleteVery nice Mark. I have lost count, how many battalions and cavalry regiments will it be in total?
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence, in all there will be nine battalions, one hussar regiment and two batteries. I am really just doing this as a support for those forces of others and as additional allies against the French. It is not really intended as a stand-alone force.
DeleteThis is looking like a very forthright force on the fourth…
ReplyDeleteAnd may they go forth with you for many victories…
Yup!…
You guessed it…
I love… Star Trek 😂🤣😂
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly, hopefully they will live long and prosper.
DeleteDiiiiiid someone say Star Trek? Lol
ReplyDeleteI never think of May the Fourth as a thing until some other nerd says it.
Great looking Austrians. Im sure you’ll plow through to the end of the force soon enough. 😀
Much like you I don't really think of the fourth until the day when there is a barrage of it on the morning radio shows while driving to work...I usually finish my morning drive in stoney silence only punctuated by my swearing at some idiot driver in front of me.
DeleteBut I agree...Star Trek...although I am more a fan of the early shows, where every episode Kirk, Spock, McCoy, a sex goddess and two security men beam down to a planet, the security men are killed in no time at all (I can't help thinking that security is a bad career choice in the Federation) but a Kirk fights off the aliens, rescues the girl and saves humanity then ends the episode with a cheesy comment...wonderful stuff.
The whole painting thing will come to a halt for a while, for reasons that will become obvious in the next few posts.
They have come out a treat Mark.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stu. The third and final battalion is finished, but the basing is not yet completed ( and won't be for a few weeks now).
DeleteSplendid looking Austrians and of course you have to do some Hussars, your favourite troop type surely!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain. Yes Austrian hussars are a definite must.
