It has been an interrupted week - interrupted by social events, a pinched nerve in my lower back and several hot and humid days - but I have managed to complete my first unit for the New Year: the second battalion of the Nyland Regiment for the Swedish Napoleonic collection.
Next in this collection, but a couple weeks away, is the Nyland Dragoon Regiment.
Very nice Mark and I always think the Swedes in their top hats look rather fetching. The red flags really set thing off rather nicely. Hope your back is better now.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve. I think so too but feel theI need to do a regiment in the blue uniform for some variety from the grey. Yes the back is fine now thanks…quite literally did the injury in the first day of the holiday when putting the bag in the car, although it took a few days to manifest itself, and came right just as I went back to work, of course.
DeleteVery nice job, they look beautiful...and disciplined!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil…disciplined indeed, just what you would expect of Swedish troops!
DeleteThe name and flag are again very familiar from my 2021 GNW project Mark. A nice addition to your Swedish force.
ReplyDeleteAnd that name will crop up. A few more times with light infantry and cavalry units.
DeleteA very nice looking unit. Love the red of the flags, very rich. Looking forward to the dragoons mentioned.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I agree that the red flag is outstanding. the Nyland dragoons are very similar to the Karelian dragoons done previously, but with a shako instead of the bicorne.
DeleteVery sharp looking Swedes, Mark! Hope your back makes a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan. The back is OK now, but it stopped me from completing a number of items that needed maintenance around the property.
DeleteVery nice Mark…
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing wrong with grey uniforms…Especially when they are carrying such a nice flag…
All the beast. Aly
Thanks Aly. I agree with the grey, but I need some colour variation. I concur that the Swedish flags are rather spectacular.
DeleteNice work Mark, very distinctively Swedish. Sorry to hear about the back. I get mine from carrying our half-blind dog downstairs at 4:00am every morning while the other one looks at me with amusement.
ReplyDeleteYes I am rather enjoying working on the Swedes. I am recover now…note to self when lifting moderate weights, do not lift and twist…
DeleteGreat looking figures- unusual head dress!
ReplyDeleteThanks John. The hat is very similar to that worn by the British marines.
