…two cardboard boxes from Nottingham.
I have been waiting on this order for 41 days and it contains some more Prussian plastic infantry plus some Uruguayan infantry for the Great Paraguayan War and some Hessians for the AWI. When combined with the parcel received on Monday this creates a broad range of units for the butterfly to flutter between…a total of 578 figures, 5 guns, 2 carts, 1 limber, 28 horses, possibly the biggest my lead pile has been for a very long time. This stock should see me through to Christmas or beyond.
And the first item finished from this batch is a combined grenadier unit to complete the infantry complement of my British AWI collection.
Having spent much of thus year working on a a single project I am quite excited about the amount of fluttering that this mix of projects will be create for the butterfly.
Mark, a lovely stash for the winter nights. It is great how the Perry's have been able to so successfully bring a relatively unusual subject to such prominence by this release. As always your whites on your units look bang on.
ReplyDeleteThank you Norm…of course we are in the middle of spring, heading to summer.
DeleteGorgeous figures Mark, most impressive close ups on these grenadiers!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil.
DeleteOutstanding both in painting quality and in the size of your resupply.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan, but I struggled a bit with those grenadiers. I haven’t managed to master this contrast paints.
DeleteNice work Mark and thats an impressive resupply - I wonder if my Brigade Games order will ever arrive - I have asked Lon to make a claim on USPS as the dispatch of my order pre dates their ban on mail to NZ by four to six weeks.....its kind of put me off ordering anything much at the moment, in case it disappears too....
ReplyDeleteYes I anticipated the issues with shipping so doubled up on orders. Hopefully your parcel makes it soon. The problem, of course, is that there are so few direct flights here from the USA and I am sure that the restrictions at our end are causing problems too.
DeleteWell those grenadiers look mean & powerful in those bearskins. Those colonials had better find some big rocks to hide behind.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fine shipment, happy for you that the figure drought ended. Always more fun when painting to know you can 'switch gears' when you want enthusiasm.
Thanks. I am quite looking forward to doing some of the Hessians, although they are at least week or two away in the schedule.
DeleteWhat’s not to like about about big boxes of toys…
ReplyDeleteYou didn’t waste any time with the grenadiers… we’re you painting them as the came out through the letterbox 😂
All the best. Aly
You are not too far off they truth…no sooner was the box opened an the first pack of grenadiers were cleaned up and glued to the tops of old paint pots for painting!
DeleteThe post seems worse than it was when COVID first hit in April last year, and I always feel a sense of relief when something arrives. Great work on the grenadiers. I always think that AWI British grenadiers have the nicest uniform of the period.
ReplyDeleteIt really goes to show how isolated we are at this end of the globe and just how dependent we are on aviation. In don’t know what it is like in QLD, but definitely see the price rises here that are the result of COVID - especially at the supermarket.
