Māori Whares Completed

The last few days has seen the completion of the Māori whares started last week.

The final three buildings of the Māori whares are below.

And here are the whole six buildings, each of which is built to a slightly different design.

Also completed is a blockhouse that will form a part of a forthcoming War of 1812 frontier post. The construction process of which will form the basis of a future post.

    1. Thanks Jonathan. I spent more time on painting the blockhouse than I thought I woold. SInce the planking is made from balsa my original plan was to simply stain the balsa with an ink wash. But the resilt was too dark so I paint it black then drybrushed a base brown followed by ever lightening shades of lighter brown, until finally a dusting of white. Some black wash created tone to the roof and a few watermarks on the main structure.

  4. Very nice terrain as always Mark but I am concerned that my poor 1812 Brits are maybe going to have tasks amulet your blockhouse!

    1. Conversely, because the game will be set in the Niagara front, it could be the British defending the blockhouse...

  5. Great looking buildings! I’m always amazed by what people make out of balsa wood.

  6. Really nice work again. I especially like the detail work on the blockhouse door with regard to the hinges and doorknob. It looks great.
