First Battalion, 48e Régiment de Ligne

The third battalion of the 1812 French army has been mustered, passed through the uniform store and into the barracks.

In have done this unit almost entirely in greatcoats and have decided that this will be 1/48e Régiment de Ligne.

  1. As always I really enjoy the diversity of your figures and the excellent paint job, you brought them to live!

  2. Very nice Mark...
And proving that units in greatcoats don’t have to look dull.

    All the best. Aly

    1. Thank Aly. Varying the colours of the coats certainly livens them up a bit.

  3. Excellent, Mark! I’m with Aly. The variation in greatcoat color adds a lot.

    1. Thank you Jonathan. The next unit will introduce some additional variation - they will be a legre regiment and can have dark blue trousers.

  4. Lovely work and I don't think there are enough figures done in greatcoats. Did you make the cravat for the Eagle yourself?

    1. You can expect to see more greatcoats from me since half the figures in the boxed sets are in greatcoat. The cravat comes moulded on the eaglc pole. Of course for 1812 there is only one eagle per regiment, so I will have to cut the eagle and cravat from the pole and create a fanion head for battalions two to five of each regiment.

  5. Nice useful line regiment, I'm not the biggest fan of greatcoats but these look good!

    1. Thanks Iain. Most of the units will have more of a mix of full dress and greatcoat, but I used a disproportionate number of full dress chaps to make up the Spanish battalion so this unit had to have the higher proportion of greatcoat unfortunately.
