There has been a lot of activity on the painting table in the last week as I push ahead with the French Napoleonics.
In all three units of Perry plastics have been finished:
The 2nd Battalion of the Joseph Napoleon (Spanish) Infantry Regiment that forms a part of Groisne's 3rd Brigade, Friant's Division, Davout's Corps at Borodino.
The 5th Dragoon Regiment, mounted...
...and dismounted (less the officer figure that is yet to arrive, hence the unfinished stand). The standard bearer and trumpeter are conversions.
Still more French are on the table now as I fill in some time while I wait for the Crimean War Heavy Brigade to arrive.
These are very nice Mark.
ReplyDeleteThank Carlo.
DeleteYou don’t often see French in white. They look sharp.
ReplyDeleteThe dismounted dragoons are splendid. You don’t often dismounted dragoons either.
Great work all around.
Yes those white coats stand out don't they? Since 8 dismounted dragoonfigures came in the pack I figured why not have the unit in both mounted and dismounted form - it is only a small cost to bring them up to a 12 man unit.
DeleteWonderful units, Joseph Napoleon's regiment is my favourtie, impressive close ups!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil.
DeleteBeautifully done. It all looks great, and I especially like the trumpeter's grey horse.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence. I am working on a infantry unit in great coat at present. Much quicker to paint, but a little dull.
DeleteExcellent great work, and nice to see slightly different 'French' units too :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark. I chose Friant's Division deliberately. i wanted something that was distinctly French in a Grande Armée that was known for its national variety. Davout's Corps was made up of all French troops with the exception of the two Spanish battalions.
DeleteAgreed always good to get some variety on the table.
ReplyDeleteCheers

I toyed with the idea of a division involving many states, but then I remembered it was a FRENCH army I am doing.
DeleteLovely white coated french infantry and the dragoons are classic!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
