6th Bavarian Jäger Battalion

The parade of Bavarians continues with a slight variation this time...green facings representing the 6th Jäger Battalion.

I like the way the vignettes can be built with these guys. It suits the jägers well I think.

The countdown to completion of the Bavarians is under way with one more jäger, two line battalions and half a dozen skirmish stands to go. Then at some point, before the end of the year I hope, there will be the divisional cavalry, artillery and some command groups.

Also based up at the same time is this Great Paraguayan War Argentine general who is starting a new career as a French cavalry brigadier.

  1. Very nice Mark, that shade of green on the cornflower blue uniforms is a lovely combination

    1. I sort of wish now that I had picked a division with regiments with yellow or orange facings though, as they stand out strong against the blue. I also like the darker cornflower tone.

    1. Thanks Jonathan. I have used some of the line infantry bodies with jäger arms to get som mor variety of poses.

  3. Considering you said you were only going to add the odd extra unit here and there, you are certainly roaring through them at a decent pace. Lovely work, and the Jagers really look like they are busily engaged in action.

    1. Ah, but the caveat was always was that I would finish existing projects...the only outstanding project now is the FPW...so just these Bavarians and the French heavy cavalry to go.

  6. Another very fine unit there Mark, and the poses really do make them look very dynamic:). I tend to go with facings that are a complete contrast to the uniform colour, so that they stand out when on the table.

    1. Thanks Steve. Blue and yellow would have been nice, but I chose the wrong division for that!

  9. Very nice indeed Mark…
That green and sky blue is a lovely colour combination…
Your “French” officer figure is also very pretty… I suspect there are a number of figures in the Great Paraguayan War Range that can be used as French…

    All the best. Aly

    1. Surprisingly, given that French uniform design influence was so strong, there is very little crossover with the GPW and FPW ranges. While the cut of the coat suits the French chasseurs, nearly all the figures wear the blanket/greatcoat across the body, which is a very non-French thing to do. A number of the officers, however, are very much of use.
