44th Regiment of Foot

This week sees a return to the British Peninsular army with the completion of the 44th foot.

I have done this battalion in the firing line.

Also completed are eighteen figures for the 60th Rifles. I chose the 60th because three other players in our group all have the 95th! I would have avoided the rifles altogether had four figures had not come with the Perry British Infantry boxes. The six remaining command figures are yet to come, but won’t be ordered until August.

  2. Very nice too Mark - I think I have the same regiment in Belgic shakos for the War of 1812!

    1. While I have called is the 44th, it reallybis a generic yellow facing regiment. I have another War of 1812 piece ready to hit these pages in the next week or so that will find itself on a certain table down country in 38 days from now.

  4. Superb work, Mark! The 44th is a neat and tidy unit. I like the variations of the backpack.

    1. Thanks. I enjoyed the 60th, the red facings and the varied trousers made for some variation in anotherwise bland uniform.

  6. Love the 60th. Just doesn't get the same press as the 95th, but they were the stalwarts of the 3rd Division, which contains my two favourite regiments - the 88th and 45th (not to mention old Picton). Nice to see these new Brits out and about.

  8. Lovely work on both battalions Mark. The 60th often live in the shadow of 95th but always do well in the games we play. They look very smart in the way you have done them here.

    1. I blame that Yorkeshireman Sharpe. Always held the 69th back...to his advantage...he even stole Frederickson's woman! Can you tell that I watched the whole series recently.

    2. ...damned iPad keyboard, that is 60th not 69th!

  9. Lovely toys Mark...

I agree with you ... the 60th (and their sister battalion the 69th) are way more colourful than the 95th...
I never really got into Sharpe... I prefer Flashman and Brigadier Gerard...

    All the best. Aly

    1. I like a couple of the Sparpe episodes, but don't really have a choice in the matter as her indoors likes him. I must admit I would have avoided the Rifles altogether but they were in the box and...well...resistance was futile.
