Régiment de Soissonnais - Duexième Partie

This is the second battalion that I have painted of the Soissonnais regiment (that Lawrence has pointed out could be difficult to pronounce after a tipple or two - although my argument is it might make it easier) for the French AWI collection.

While it is the second battalion painted, bearing the drapeau blanc it represents the First Battalion of the regiment.

In keeping with my error with the previous effort, I have painted the turnbacks solid crimson where they should be white.

  1. Nice work! On turnbacks, at least you are consistent!

    1. Thanks Jonathan…I figured that constancy was the key here.

  2. They look great as usual Mark. You have had a productive Easter. Thinking about it, a Soissonnais with a drapeau blanc sounds like it could be a perfect dish to match up with a tipple or two.

    1. Easter was very productive…and not only on the figure painting front. I managed to catch up with a multitude of small tasks around the house, lawns, repairs, weed spraying, paint touch-ups, water blasting, etc. what do you think would make a good pairing there? I reckon a nice Alsace Riesling or maybe a Gwertz?

  3. Lovely figures, once again. I agree with your color choice for the second battalion as well.

    1. Thanks Joe. I think the solid crimson turnbacks look best.

  4. They look very intimidating Mark....I am starting to be a bit concerned about all these Frenchmen...I don't think battles involving the French during the AWI went very well for the British! I may need to recruit some additional forces of my own.....

    1. You don’t have to worry too much Keith…I think between the two of us we have every British battalion that served in North America, plus some Hessians!

  5. Very nice Mark and I think the consistency on the turnbacks is the right way to go.

    1. Thank you Aly. Only two battalions to go to finish this collection that will make a nice supporting force for the many American units that others in the group have.
