This week sees the last of the Brazilian infantry leave the painting table.
These two battalions wear the winter jacket, but have a mix of trousers and other equipment.
They complete the eight battalions intended for the Brazilian contingent.
The passing out of these two battalions seemed too good an opportunity to pass up for a parade. So here they are, the infantry and the cavalry, of the Brazilian contingent.
The next project is some more scenery items.
As always great job. It was fun just to see the progress on the South American units you have made in this project.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It was fun to do. The project is almost at an end...hopefully around the middle of the year all the artillery and commanders will be completed.
DeleteVery nice work once again Mark:). I noticed the other day that the Perry's have plenty of info on the same or simlar units on their website, including flags and uniform details. An excellent resource for sure.

Thanks Steve. Yes the Perry information has been very useful. I have the Terry Hooker book which contains everything I needed, but the Perry sheets are more useful because is is all consolidated into single sheet and in full colour.
DeleteExcellent work! As the comment above, it has been fun watching this project grow. You have likely drawn others to this period through works here.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan. Now all I have to do is sort out the artillery anf generals, then I can organise a game.
DeleteBeautiful Brazilian contingent, well done Mark...and splendid vegetation btw!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil...I need to make more of those trees.
DeleteI just so admire this collection. I've done battles of this war with my 10mm collection some years ago though haven't played in ages but it is quite an interesting war to game. Looking forward to see your games. You do such great work.
ReplyDeleteI am keen to get these on the table as it has been just on a year since I started this project.
DeleteA handy force Mark - I think you have mentioned that the Perrys have the artillery in hand too? Do you have all the infantry and cavalry for the various contingents that you planned to paint?
ReplyDeleteYes I have all the infantry and cavalry I had planned for. I will do the artillery when all the options are available (at the moment only the Brazilian artillery is available). I may also wait for the mounted officers.
DeleteAnother lovely unit with a good campaign look to them, and a fine collection Mark. The free postage from the Perrys is terrific, but it is a balancing act to know when to press submit on an order as I have often found that there is a new release that comes out only a week or so later after I have taken the plunge.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence. i know what you mean about the new releases. It has caught me out many times! There will be a little break on the GPW while I focus on a few other items.
DeleteHi Mark, what a wonderful job. I am very happy to see wargamers dedicated to this fascinating South American conflict. I'm Victor Barone, author of Borders of Blood, a book just released by Caliver Books, focused on the War of the Triple Alliance. I'm following your blog with great interest. A big hug from Brazil
