Phase one of the British Crimean expansion is complete with this, the 38th regiment, is the third of Sir John Campbell's 1st Brigade, from Sir Richard England’s Third Infantry Division.
Phase two, Eyre’s Second Brigade, will be collected in the New Year.
Next on the painting table is the Bavarians, six battalions, a gun set, a limber and six mounted officers of which appeared on the doorstep on Thursday.
THis blue is definitly wonderful...Great looking unit!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil.
Delete“For now” are famous last words. Excellent additions to your CW project.
ReplyDeleteThe was this passing thought that it would only require another 9 battalions, if combined with the help of another member in the group who has the Light Division, to create the entire British army at the Alma...but it was just a passing thought.
DeleteA nice classic colour combination to finish with...
ReplyDeleteDoes your postman know what he is delivering... they look like two bricks and may well weigh the same ;-)
All the best. Aly
I suspect that one of the prime reasons that NZ Post changed from bicycles to battery powered carts for postpeople (can’t call them postmen any more d’you see) is because a health and safety risk assessment identified that the imbalance caused to the bicycle due to the carriage of so much weight on the deliveries to my house had a high risk, given the frequency, likelihood and consequence...
DeleteExcellent looking unit and it's always fun to get boxes of figures of course!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain. I must admit to a certain childlike excitement when I turn into the drive and see the parcels.
DeleteLovely troops. Great expectations in those boxes as well.
ReplyDeleteYes the boxed were quickly unpacked and organized into units. Some are painted already.
DeleteBrilliant. Time for a photo parade methinks...
ReplyDeleteThanks Nathan. There was a plan for this...her indoors is away in Oz for the weekend, so there really was an opportunity was. But the weather was so good yesterday that I spent it in the garden and today the were too many chores to catch up on. Abe when the second brigade is completed!
DeleteLovely work and it is great watching the Crimean expansion come together. You’re lucky your postman delivers. I see to spend an ordinate amount of time stuck in the Australia Post queue with all the other unlucky punters.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lawrence. NZ Post now only delivers three days a week which is a real pain, and so many post shops have closed now it is no wonder that the courier companies are doing so well.
