Today sees the return to the Spanish Napoleonic project.
Specifically it marks the start of the third and final phase that will see the addition of eight battalions to the 1809-1811 period
This the first of two battalions I am doing from the Catalonia Legion. Consisting of four battalions this legion looks rather smart in its bright blue trousers and jacket. The 1st battalion presented here, sports scarlet lapels, collar and cuffs.
The second battalion that I intend to do in this legion will be the 3rd battalion which will feature black facings, piped scarlet.

This is handsome unit, for sure! Mid-Blue and red is a winning combination.
ReplyDeleteI agree. In think the only better combination is blue and yellow.
DeleteVery nice. Will the French be getting any Spanish allies?
ReplyDeleteSplendid blue shades, superb!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil. The blues are indeed a pleasing hue.
DeleteAnother great job Mark. What have you put them on for photographing - are they dry brushed pan scrubber?? The join makes it look like terrain tiles, but not sure if you have any of those?
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith. In some way you are correct...it is the trial for terrain tiles. It is a low cost felt glued onto MDF and then sprayed with several tones of green and yellow. Its part of a project that will take shape later this year.
DeleteLovely blue and smart red facings!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain. Yes it is a nice combination.
DeleteVery nice and again underling how colourful napoleonic Spanish are. It will be interesting to see how your terrain tile project develops as well.
ReplyDeleteYet I am doing a bell top shako unit right now that is all grey and is quite dull!
DeleteThe terrain tile project will be quite late in the year. I have the basics figured out but need to do run some more trials. My problem is that I don't have a workshop let alone the tools to make the frames I need so I will need to get some of the timber pre-cut
