Russian Church, Part 10

The church is now painted and assembled.

In 13 days it has gone from this inspiration:

To this rough cardboard form:

To the finished product:

These shots, with only flash lighting, don't do the model justice, especially the gold spires, but you will get an idea until I have the chance to set up a proper "shoot".

One more step is required, to make the base, but I want to give this a little more thought. This may take a few more days.

  1. That will be a fantastic piece of scenery to have on your Crimean battlefields. Do Russian churches have graveyards beside them? That could make for an interesting detail on a base.

    1. Yes I had thought of a graveyard, but I'm not sure. I need to search around a bit more. This is going to be one of the central features of a game at Tarawera so I need to fins a way to accomodate a battalion irvtwo within the base.

    1. Thank you Russ. I just need to find some way to put it on a spectacular, but war-games practical, base.

    1. Thanks Jonathan. In restrospect I wish I had put that little bit more detail on the window frames. It would have made a difference.

    1. Thanks Stu. I hope to complete the basing within a week. It will sit on a piece of raised ground and will have something of a cemetery.

  6. Hi Mark,

I've watched this one with interest and have enjoyed the blow-by-blow details of its construction! I thought the watermill was impressive enough, but I think the church has surpassed that, although they've both had their different challenges (and in the church's case over 600 of them)!

    Very nice model indeed!

    Regards,

    John

    1. Thank you John. It was a fun one to make. I will work on the base for the model this weekend. I finished the orthodox priest who will go with the model just last night.
