My part of the armies required for our upcoming WWI in East Africa game is three companies of Indian Sikh infantry, supported by a couple of heavy machine guns.
The bulk of the infantry are provided by a friend who very kindly painted them and gave them to me as a birthday present nearly five years ago. These are all the Woodbine Design figures, available through Gripping Beast.
Finally I have finished the command stand and the HMGs for this force. These are all Brigade Games figures.
Annoyingly I thought I had three companies each of 12 figures, but I mis-counted and only have three companies of 9 figures so need to order another nine figures to complete the force. They will have to wait until the end of the month since my budget allocation for toys this month is exceeded.
The final item has been on the painting table for a while now. Left over after painting the crew from the Pom Pom gun, this is the officer from the Perry Miniatures Gardner Gun set from their Sudan range. He is used here as a British naval officer on shore duty.
Top notch job, very impressive close ups...and a splendid uniform!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil. Those Brigade Games figures are great to work with.
DeleteLooking good!
ReplyDeleteThank you, they were fun to do.
DeleteSomething a little different again. Great job on these.
ReplyDeleteWell variety is the spice of life...therevare some more Dark Age archers on the way, then some more Russian guns and cavalry.
DeleteMean looking machine guns. Nice work all around,
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan. They are a nice little set.
DeleteNice looking Indian troops Mark - I have the same MG group but my "khaki" is somewhat lighter than yours - maybe my troops came straight from India and yours by way of the Western Front?! I look forward to teaming up with your battalion in Tarawera
ReplyDeleteI tried to match the colours used by my friend, but couldn't get the tone right. I figured there would have been considerable variabce in colour anyway. Only 95 days to go until theyvwill take the field!
DeleteNice looking Sikhs, lots of character and nice painting.
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain. I agree, there is a lot of character in the Brigade Games figures.
