Franco-Prussian French Cuirassier Regiment Number Two

After the detour to Poland and the McPherson farm I have returned to the French cuirassiers from 1870.

This completes a brigade, displayed here in all its glory with its new brigadier.

The great thing about these cuirassiers us that they all have the standard uniform - only the regimental number on buttons, etc, differentiate them, so the stands can be mixed and matched.

Next it back to Poland.

  1. Very nice looking figures. Those AI backgrounds are interesting.

    1. Thanks. The AI backgrounds are good, but do get a few things wrong. Often the scale is distorted, or it puts something quite weird in the image. But it does speed up background removal - to create a clipping path around that number of figures in PhotoShop would take considerable time...these took a minute each.

  2. Outstanding work, Mark! The close-ups a fab! The AI-generated backdrops are nifty too.

    1. Thanks Jonathan. I am slowly finding uses for various AI tools. Image cleanup and manipulation is the most useful for me. I am an advanced Photoshop user, but AI just does the job so much quicker - if you give it the right instructions. I have avoided using it for writing anything because it is the creative aspect of writing a story that gives me joy. It is a useful tool for deeper research too, as long as you check the references.

  4. Great work Mark. The assembled brigade looks very impressive. I also like how you have mastered AI. I keep ending up with two-headed riders and five-legged horses.

    1. Yes the AI does some odd stuff. If you look at the fifth picture down it has add a random figure out to the right. It frequently re-poses the figures, so a standard part of my instruction now is "...without changing the position of the models..."

  7. Lovely, lovely work there Mark and I do love those 'classic' French colours for the uniforms that I remember as a kid. Nice work on the AI backgrounds too:).
