These are Great War Miniatures. They are great little figures with lots of character.
This is the first of three battalions in this batch that will make up the first regiment.
The second regiment, that will be ordered in July, will probably be in shakos.
They look really cool Mark. Another period I want to do but was thinking of 1/72nd scale. To that end I brought a box of Strelets Sardinians. Somehow don;t think they will ever look as good as 28mm.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian. I have wanted to do the Crimea for 25 years and am finally getting around to it. The French have the added benefit that they can be used in Italy in 1859, if anyone comes up with some decent Austrians at some point.
DeleteThey look superb, great job and beautiful bases...
ReplyDeleteThanks Phil. I think the French infantry uniform is at its best between 1830 and 1914.
DeleteVery nice! Look forward to seeing more!
ReplyDeleteAnd there is much more to come! The rest of fhe Light Brigade are due any day.
DeleteSplendid work! One of my favorite uniforms.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jonathan, I agree about the uniforms. I think the 1850's was the peak for French and British military uniforms.
DeleteVery nicely done, and the basing is top notch
ReplyDeleteThanks Russ. Many people dislike basing, but It is never an issue to me.
DeleteI think basing can make or break an entire project, and yours certainly makes it.
DeleteAnd it covers up a multitude of painting sins!
DeleteGreat work. I look forward to seeing them on the table in a game! Any particular regiment (assuming you mean first as in the first one you did and not the 1er ligne)?
ReplyDeleteThanks Nathan. The French are likely to be based around Canrobert's Division at the Alma, so these guys could be 7e, 20e or 27e de ligne. I hope to have enough troops for a game toward the end of June-early July...it depends on how quickly the next batch of Russians take to arrive, and delivery of this range is a bit slow for my liking at the moment.
