Over the last few days I have finished four small outbuilding and some fencing that completes the 'almost' Trostle Farm from the Gettysburg battlefield - I say almost because it is not an exact replica.

The four final building are:
 |
The Corn Crib
|
 |
| The Carriage House on the right, Ice House on the left. |
 |
| The smokehouse, where they would have prepared cured meats |
All these work in with the fences to create the complete farm, in the historical configuration.
Amazing work again sir!
ReplyDeleteThank you Michal. This is one of my most enjoyable build to dat
DeleteWhat a great set of buildings there Mark, and superbly 'posed' photos for us to enjoy:)! They would certainly make a show stopping display on any games table here in the UK, and overseas too I would have thought.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to set up the photoshoot. I must admit that making the set has got me thinking of a scenario based around it...maybe titled "Save Dan Sickles".
DeleteExcellent. I especially like the barn which reminds me of trips to the States.

Thsnks Stephen. I went to Gettysburg in 1978. I rode all around the park on a bike, but none of my pictures feature the Trostle Farm.
DeleteLove it! Especially the banked barn.
ReplyDeleteKind Regards,
Stokes (Michigan, USA)
Thanks Stokes. I's quite keen to do another banked barn now and hve dug up a mountain of stuff on the McPherson barn.
DeleteSplendid work indeed Mark…
ReplyDeleteI like all the smaller “ working” buildings… they add a lovely “lived in” feel.
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly. It was a bit of a challenge to find some detail on the outbuildings, but if you dig enough, it's there. I couldn't find and reference to the privy though...
DeleteAnther fantastic bit of scenery Mark!
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith...you never know if it doesn't sell it might end up on one of our tables one day.
DeleteGreat terrain makes for a great wargame.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian. The Trostle Farm at second day at Gettysburg would make great 'what if' game.
DeleteGreat stuff Mark. Some of your best work. I'm sure it will sell quickly and if I hadn't already purchased the Hovels equivalent I'd be all over these as they are far superior.
ReplyDeleteI agree that this is some of my best work and using some techniques I hadn't tried before. I was amazed at the scale - the barn is about 75% of the footprint and the farmhouse 80%, but would have looked too big on the table.
DeleteSimilarly I am just starting the Dunker Church from Antietam. In reality it is 35ft square which scaled at 1:56 would be 190mm square. A made a paper dummy of it and it looked silly, so I gave scaled it back.
