This final full battalion of my Bavarian infantry division represents the 10th Jäger battalion.
Technically this was not a part of the 4th Bavarian Division. Both Bavarian corps (and all Prussian corps for that matter) had a jäger battalion attached to the corps, assigned at the discretion of the corps commander. The 10th was that battalion for 2nd Bavarian Corps.
Like the 5th battalion, completed earlier in the year, this battalion was armed with the Werder rifle rather than the Podwils.
Also completed are seven stands of skirmishers - seven little vignettes.
Thus completes the infantry contingent for my Bavarian force, the 4th Bavarian Infantry Division. There is much action in the divisional barracks right now with the various battalions brushing up on their drill for a grand parade that will probably be held next week.
Great work on some more lovely Perry figures. I'll never know how they manage to come up with so many unique poses which you rarely see in such variety in other ranges.
ReplyDeleteFor this unit, and the skirmish stands, I mixed the jäger and line infantry sprues to get greater variety. I also used a few arms from other ranges, and in a sort of Frankenstein way cut hands from other arms to create even more differences. But you are right, the Perry figures have a unique animation.
DeleteI keep forgetting these are plastic figures and therefore much of the uniqueness of the posing is down to you Mark. When I am assembling plastic figures I'm just happy to see the arms remain in place rather than slipping down to waist-height.
DeleteI always hate it when you don't notice the misalignment until the next day...
DeleteGreat looking figures and lovely work on basing.. looking forward to your parade.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe, the parade is forming...
DeleteBeautiful work Mark!
ReplyDeleteBest regards
Thank you Michal.

ReplyDeleteThank you Neil.
DeleteSuper work all round Mark, the skirmish stands are really great, super little vignettes, all of them!
ReplyDeleteThank you Donnie.
Deletethey all look very nice, 😁
ReplyDeleteThanks Stew, but I am over all that blue...
DeleteThey all look suitably impressive Mark, but I have a question - in pic two it looks like the officer is wearing a gorget - but it's not painted as such (I noticed the same thing on at least one earlier Bayerische regiment - is there any reason for this or am I simply mistaking what I am seeing?
ReplyDeleteThe gorget was the button colour (pewter or brass), but in the field was worn in a blue fabric cover.
DeleteWell, there you go, who would have thought armies would be that practical in the Choclate Box era?!
DeleteWell they are Germanic after all.
DeleteExcellent work all round there Mark and those poses do add real animation to the whole:).
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve.
