Terrific work Mark. The one thing I have discovered now I am the proud owner of the Trostle Farm is how much better buildings look on a base. Thankfully all my Grand Manner buildings have one, but my old Hovels buildings look a little incomplete now. The dome in particular looks sensational. Did you paint it all copper before adding the verdigris? The effect looks perfect.
Thanks Lawrence. Yes a base helps to lift the model just that little big more. For the dome I started with a Burnt Sienna base coat then dry brushed a mix of gold and Burnt Sienna over the lower half of the dome, with a heavier coating towards the bottom. The verdigris is drybrushed down from the top to about two thirds of the way down (that part that is most exposed to the weather), starting with a dark green with splash of white, then applying three more coats increasing the amount of white every time. I experimented on an old paint pot first.
Thanks Steve. The AI dud a pretty good job at positioning the building in that image...eventually...the first attempt (with instruction to put it in an image of an Austrian alpine village) put it on a picnic table in a village.
