Now these conversions involve quite a bit of kit bashing and are far from perfect - any button counters will find a multitude of errors, but they will do until such time as the Perrys (or others) turn out suitable generals.
First is the command for VII Corps that was painted earlier and is based here.
Next to be based are the cavalry generals. I have one cavalry brigadier already so there is need for one divisional leader and two brigadiers tio finish off the 6th Cavalry Division. Here I chose to do some additional conversion on the divisional stand. I found this image of the commander, von Rheinbaben, and chose to try to replicate his whiskers.
The two remaining brigadiers have been put in more heroic poses.
I had completed one infantry division earlier so there is only one required.
Then there are the four infantry brigadiers.
Finally I have based up the two Bavarian infantry brigadiers.
This finishes everything in the Franco-Prussian pile for a while (well, there are a few odds and sods still kicking around in the plastic pile), but at least I now have command for all the units that might permit me to actually get these figures on a gaming table.
They look perfectly fine to me Mark, and who knows if the Perry's will ever get around to finishing off any of their ranges....they seem to have the common wargamers "butterfly " affliction, just at the other end of the supply chain.... and some time soon, they will probably want to retire and just concentrate on playing with all the toys they have amassed!
ReplyDeleteYes they will do for now. In really just want to get these armies on a table!
DeleteLovely work Mark and they look just fine to my eyes, great command stands for your Prussians and Bavarians, very nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie. There are many issues with the uniforms...that's what comes from using Napoleonic bodies as tye conversion base!
DeleteBeautiful work on Prussian command sir!
ReplyDeleteThank you Michal.
DeleteThese really capture the mood of the era and have the beenfit of being unique too. I especially like the Bavarian commander's pose.
ReplyDeleteStephen
Thanks Stephen. The Bavarian brigadiers are the free Hartmann figure that comes when you buy 3+ boxes of figures.
DeleteEven if the Perrys do get around to bringing some out, I wouldn't bother as these look great. Lovely work on all of them Mark, but my favourite is the officer in the red tunic with the blue pelisse.
ReplyDeleteYour favourite is actually a production figure...its part of the high command set and represents Prince Frederick Charles, the nephew of the King and commander of the II Army.
DeleteIt is his uniform that I like. There is something about an hussar uniform that always looks smart. I remember in the 80's cavalry shirts were the go for a while and I even bought one, wearing it for all of ten minutes before I realised how stupid it looked.
DeleteAh '80's fashion...at least I can imagine you as Adam Ant in hour varsity days...rather than Boy George!
DeleteAll very handsome specimens!
ReplyDeleteKind Regards,
Stokes
Thank you Stokes.
DeleteWell not knowing which buttons are correct or not Mark, they look absolutely fine to me:)! I wonder if they had their own tailors like the British were want to have, or did they get them from Central Casting as it were?
ReplyDeleteThe error ( that I recognise the most) is that the frock coat us not anywhere near correct. I did correct one, but then got lazy.
Deletegreat looking command figures.
ReplyDeleteThank you Stew.
DeleteGreat looking games
ReplyDeleteGreat looking commanders
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil.
DeleteExcellent brushwork Mark, some very imposing figures.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray!
