Down on the Farm

After a two month hiatus from painting, I am back with a few bits and pieces.

This batch continues from the Napoleonic civilians.

The milkmaids, with three cows.

The field workers.

There are a few more civilians and some Swedish commanders to come.

  1. Two months without painting? That is hard to believe. What are you doing with all of your extra free time?

    1. Yes two months, and in that time half my paints have dried up and nearly all the old brushes have hardened!

A fair amount of time has been taken up by work with the handover process as I slide towards retirement. The rest is taken up with binge-watching a lot of streaming content that I have ignored or missed over the last year. I have a few more things to order in the next week or so to finish off collections.

  2. Nice work and some very handy figures for table dressing. Really like the haystack, nice piece.

    1. Thanks Donnie. The haystack is one I built for a game some years ago. I stumbled over it while cleaning up a few weeks ago.

  3. Good to hear you are transitioning to your new chapter. Too bad about the brushes, although getting new ones is usually a joy.

  4. I can't believe it's been two months since you managed to get time to paint Mark! Excellent work as always and lovely additions to your collections, nicely posed too:).

    1. Thanks Steve. The year is certainly slipping by...it will be Christmas before we know it.

  5. I knew it had been a while since your last post and wondered if some of it was due to work and your forthcoming retirement. Beautiful work on these Mark. It is also good to see the Perrys taking backorders as I was finding lately I could get 80% of what I needed to complete projects which meant a succession of smaller orders.

    1. Thanks Lawrence. The countdown is on in earnest now with only 47 days (25 working days) to go. I have several pieces I need to finish off projects that have been out of stock for a couple of months.

  6. These look really good and will add a lot of character to the table. Good luck retirement as well. 😀
Just enjoy that while you didn’t get to paint for 2 months, it’s not like you needed to.

    1. Thanks Stew. I must admit that I was going through painting withdrawal...I am trying to think of games in which these will feature.

  7. Very nice indeed Mark…
For various reasons I have slowed down a bit in my painting over the last couple of months… but to stop completely 😱😱😱
Good to see you are back with brush in hand…

    All the best. Alt

    1. Thanks Aly...my decision to cut back is largely driven by the fact that there are now 20,000 little men in various locations around the house and storage space has reached it limits! There will be the occasional burst of painting from time to time for a unit of two, but there will be no more large expansions...unless I win the lottery, of course!
