My continuing work on my oddball vignettes has moved onto the civilians.
I ordered four sets of the new Perry Napoleonic civilians. There are another four sets in the range, but regrettably they were out of stock. So another order will need to be placed.
The first batch are the workmen.

The lead pile is running very low right now, with little chance of replenishment in the near future thanks to some unknown teenager of questionable parentage who threw rocks through two of our windows (and through the neighbours too). The resulting $750 repair bill then the $500 to install some cctv gear has seen my budget for toys diverted for the rest of the year.
Lovely work on some very nice and handy figures. They look great in the vignettes and will certainly dress the table nicely. Bad news about the windows and the costs.

ReplyDeleteThanks Joe, I agree they will add a bit of colour to the table. The neighbour managed to chase down who we believe the perpetrator, but he wasn't sighted doing the deed and he simply denied it, so no action could be taken. Hopefully the fact that they were able to catch up with him and with the new cctv gear he may be deterred from coming this way again.

DeleteOutstanding work on the figures. I really like having things like this to liven up the table. I was thinking about them for my War of 1812 collection and you definitely sold me on them. Too bad they are out if stock right now.

DeleteGreat choice of colours on these Mark. They have come up beautifully. Unfortunately the Perrys seem to be regularly out of stock of certain items nowadays. Not as annoying as having rocks thrown through your windows though. My CCTV system is has been sitting in a box downstairs for three year and I need to install it before it gets stolen, which would be embarrassing to have to claim back on insurance.
ReplyDeleteThe colours were hard to choose because there is a temptation to use the colours of today, but the colour of cloth for common folk in Napoleonic times would have been predominantly earth dyes - greens, browns, dull reds, etc. The cctv is installed now and working well, we also used the electrician's time well to replace all our down lights with LEDs - task long overdue.
DeleteExcellent work on those figures Mark and nice to see them posed 'in action' as it were. So sorry to hear about the broken windows but hope the CCTV acts as a deterent from now on.

DeleteHaha...you think you are joking Lawrence, but we actually had a cctv camera stolen off the front of our house...the camera filmed the thief removing it!!

They are very nice pieces...Alan has done a great job on them and I can hardly wait to get hold of the rest of them. Indeed the precautions have paid off so far.
DeleteLovely looking civilians, very nice colour choices, we had a rock thrown through our window, after having my rear windscreen smashed in, all went away after I installed cctv, it was over 15' up the wall so luckily enough no one nicked it!

Civilians make a nice touch on most tables. The camera we chose is bolted into a plate from inside the roof cavity so without access to the house it can't be removed without destroying it.
