Franco-Prussian War French Imperial Guard - The End is in Sight

This is the penultimate battalion of the Guard Voltigeurs, the First Battalion, Second Regiment.

The final grenadier battalion is done now, just waiting to be based, and the final voltigeur battalion is assembled and ready to go under the brush over the weekend.

  1. Stunning work and I'm always amazed at your painting output, as mine has gone South for the Winter it would seem!

    1. Well we are in spring in our neck of the woods, so maybe it is spring growth! I try to complete six foot or three mounted figures a day - it adds up pretty quickly.

  2. Great work again Mark. It seems there is more yellow on these than usual. You must be looking forward to not having to use this dastardly colour again after the last battalion is finished.

    1. It is the same amount of, but probably different lighting. Yes after this next battalion, no yellow on any of the other units in the queue!

  3. More wonderful work Mark.
In the last photo, is the figure with his hand out checking to see if it is raining? Most of the others seem to be eying the sky and looking annoyed... you know, "we have to attack the Prussians and now it is raining, merde!!" 😂
