So on Tuesday, when I got back from our little road trip, I looked up a few images online and put together a concept. Then on Wednesday evening I started construction, completing it Thursday evening.

A Covered Bridge
I am running an American War of Independence game on Sunday and I wanted something a little different as a focus of the game. For this I have chosen a covered bridge.
The nice thing about this model is that the whole model was made with leftover pieces and offcuts from other building projects.
Clever use of scraps and bits, then, Certainly captures the look of the covered bridge. Add a village plagued by a. Headless Horseman, got yourself a game. Thanks for sharing.

DeleteBeautiful work again Mark, and distinctively North American. I always wondered why the covered them as you would get wet in the rain on the way there and also when leaving. I suppose it was a form of shelter if nothing else was around. I'll look forward to seeing it feature in Sunday's game.
ReplyDeleteI too always wondered their real purpose and is seems that along with providing temporary shelter for travellers from storms, the cover is supposed to help to keep the base timbers dryer and less subject to rot - it is much cheaper to replace a few shingles than the bridge trusses.

I looked at making the Sach's Bridge, near Gettysburg, but it was too complex a build for the limited time I had.
